Copper Prices

Post by dan_s »

The alltime high price for copper on the NYMEX futures was $5.05/pound set on May 13, 2024. It slipped back to $4.00 early in August, 2024.
Since September 2nd copper prices have risen more than 10%.

Trading Economics:
"Copper futures steadied around $4.50 per pound on Monday after experiencing heightened volatility last week, with trading volumes remaining subdued as Chinese markets were still closed for a week-long holiday. Last week, the metal lost half a percent for the first weekly decline since early September. Those moves came as traders took some profits off the table after copper prices reached a four-month high, while escalating tensions in the Middle East prompted markets to unload riskier holdings in favor of safe-haven assets. Still, China’s economic stimulus measures continued to support market sentiment amid hopes for stronger demand from the top metals consumer. Moreover, the prospect of further US interest rate cuts which could boost global economic activity added to the bullish outlook."
