What lead up to the war in Ukraine

Short video at the link below lays out the things that the U.S. and NATO did to piss off Putin.

As soon as possible Trump needs to negotiate an end to this war BEFORE it expands to a much worse conflict. I was born late enough to miss being draft to go die in Vietnam, but I knew several young men that were not as lucky.

"After WWII, Truman had Secretary of State George Marshall developed a plan to rebuild Europe. After the Marshall Plan rebuilt most of Europe, we have gone downhill meddling in the business of other countries. We have enough problems, and more are being created by the day. Time to come home and mind our own business for the time being. WWII was made necessary by a very unnecessary war...WWI. Since WWII, we have avoided President Eisenhower's advice on the Military Industrial Complex. Since WWII, we have been involved in endless wars. Washington in his farewell address warned us: ..."the United States should take great care to stay out of unnecessary wars, and aloof from foreign entanglements." NATO was formed to stop the USSR, which ceased to exist on Dec. 25, 1991. Before Germany was restored, Reagan and Secretary Baker promised that "NATO would not move one inch east." Since, we have moved 1000 miles east, enlisting 17 former countries and republics that composed the USSR & Warsaw Pact. Ukraine is now underway because Putin asked that NATO not allow Ukraine to join the group. Angela Merkel told the EU that if Ukraine is allowed to join NATO, Putin would view that as an act of war in 2015. Biden missed the off ramp to agree to not letting Ukraine join NATO. Now we have 600,000 dead in Ukraine, no telling how many Russians and we are draining our bankrupt economy supporting one of the most corrupt countries in the world against another corrupt country led by a former KGB nut. Currently, we have over 750 military bases worldwide. We need to reduce this to a few strategic bases to protect sea lanes, build a very strong defense. When attacked be swift and lethal. Get home ASAP and start minding our own business again.
An economic note: Russia is not the USSR; it’s economy is SMALLER than Texas. Before we started pouring money into Ukraine, their GDP was smaller than Mississippi!

I recall that those who supported the Vietnam War said if we don't stop the Chinese Communists in Vietnam, they will take over all of Asia. After 54,000 Americans died in that war, which we lost, the Chinese did not take over all of Asia.

No one really wins these wars, and a lot of young people die.
