Russian President Vladimir Putin this afternoon offered preliminary support for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine proposed by the United States and Ukraine earlier this week reports the NY Times. Putin caveated that ultimately any agreement will need to address the root causes of the conflict and not simply be for the sake of ending the fighting. US negotiators are currently in Moscow to work out the details of the deal, though President Putin said he will have to have a phone call with US President Trump reports The Guardian.
This war is not going to end quickly.

Re: War in Ukraine
these links provide some history of Russia's demands, going back to Dec 2021, just 2 months before the invasion.
Russia's demands have not changed since their proposals to the West on Dec 17,2021.

Putin's rationale was stated in the speech he gave the morning of his invasion of Ukraine, Feb 24, 2022.

The situation in the Russian occupied territories of eastern and southern Ukraine are not reported on by Western media, once an area is occupied by Russia, outgoing news is blacked out.

In summary:
Deportations, kidnappings, arbitrary violence, including sexual violence, ill-treatment and torture are commonplace, not only in the detention centers but throughout the territory under Russian control. Public protests and other forms of resistance to the occupation are being suppressed by the Russian armed forces and the Russian occupying authorities. Elementary freedoms, such as the freedom of expression (including the expression of Ukrainian culture and identity) or movement, are stifled. There is no protection against intrusion from the occupying forces, either in terms of private sphere or confiscation of property. Russia rules the areas it controls through fear and intimidation.

Re: War in Ukraine
Bottomline: Team Biden made no attempt to stop this war from starting. Trump would never have allowed it to start.
Would the U.S. allow China to put missiles in Mexico?
All Team Biden had to do was agree not to allow Ukraine to join NATO. Now millions are dead and millions more will have their lives ruined.
