BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:43 A.M.) – An Iranian Salafist jihadist group with ties to Syria’s Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Nusra Front (currently called Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham) has blown up an oil pipeline in Iran’s west, reportedly causing major damage.

According to emerging reports, the Ahwaz Martyrs Brigade of Ansar al-Furqan, an Iran-based terrorist group with ties to Al-Qaeda affiliate groups elsewhere in the Middle East, has carried out a bomb attack in the country’s Khuzestan province.

The attack targeted, and reportedly succeeded in destroying, an oil pipeline in Khuzestan’s Omidiyeh region. The attack appears to have been carried out during the night at some point between late Friday after or very early Saturday morning.

Ansar al-Furqan was established in 2013, being comprised of Balochi Salafist militants hostile to the Iranian government.

According to the Terrorism Research and Analysis Consortium, the group has links to the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda, bring it well within the designation of a terrorist group.

They call them "Unplanned Supply Outages" for a reason, they are not included in anyone's forecast.

When the global oil markets are over-supplied, these events get very little press coverage.

In a world that is under-supplied by a million barrels per day (my SWAG) they can have a BIG impact on the price of oil.
