My Take on oil prices

Post by dan_s »

This is an article that I wrote for OilPrice.com last week:
https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/W ... tocks.html

If Trump is aggressive with Iran - and I think he will be - I believe we will see WTI spike to $100/bbl early in 2019.

Note that all of my forecast/valuation models for the Sweet 16 and our Small-Cap Growth Portfolio companies still assume that WTI will average $65/bbl for all future periods (adjusted for regional price differentials and individual company's hedges).

Don’t understand why Iran’s 100 +/- fast boat swarming exercises near the Strait of Hormuz doesn’t get any rise in price. I guess people got used to Obama’s taking it on the chin and shrug it off. Seems like a very dangerous situation to me. Likely a bluff but it wouldn’t take much for this situation to go awry and escalate.

I agree. If Iranian "fast boats" start swarming around tankers going through the Strait of Hormuz it will get very interesting.
