because the Saudi King denies vehemently they did it...
15 Saudi men show up to the Saudi Consulate in Turkey having flown in on a private jet from Saudi Arabia. They get ushered into the Saudi Consulate because they know this journalist is coming, interrogate (allegedly) him (a US citizen), dismember him (?? allegedly), kill him (allegedly) and leave back to Saudi Arabia.
I dunno...that is some knowledge and high level door opening those 15 strong rogue killers (including a forensic scientist posted along on the trip) seemed to possess...or maybe the Saudi Royal family are just not in control(?)
Is it me, or the older I get, the more Occam's razor makes sense, and the less the big players in life seem to respect concealing the way it points the finger.
These guys were making a statement that looks very like the Russian statement made over the Salisbury killings in the UK...
Salisbury, UK. We show no mercy to dissenters...Smoking gun: Russian developed novichok poison
Istanbul, Turkey. We show no mercy to dissenters...smoking gun: Committed in the Saudi consulate with incredible clearance.
Both of these could have been framed as muggings gone wrong...or road accidents. This was not the intent...it is an exhibition of power, plain and simple.
So, how does this concern oil?
These guys are controlling the narrative to the world (we will do what we want when we want because the consequences of standing up against us are too great (nuclear / Oil throttle)) & controlling OPEC.
Sanctions on Iran full force, Nov 4...Mid terms, Nov 6...convenient timing.
Once this passes...we could be in for another show of power!
It would be a very prudent move if Trump stimulated US production with whatever incentives / tax breaks / privileges he can throw at US home soil production. I don't think it suits the world to be at these guy's mercy.

I doubt that we ever become "Energy Independent" in my lifetime (I am 64, so this is not a "far out" prediction). However, we could easily get all of the oil that we need from countries in the Western Hemisphere. Heck, a couple hundred Marines could take over Venezuela in a week and we'd be doing them a big favor.
Seriously, the U.S. protects the steady flow of oil from the Middle East because it is necessary for the global marketplace to function smoothly. The U.S. can easily live without a drop of oil from the Middle East.
