COVID-19 Virus Update - Mar 22 at 6PM

Post by dan_s »

These are the stats as of 6PM on March 22 from the Johns Hopkins website. Stats on their website change each time a country reports an update to the university. It is a very fluid situation.

332,577 Confirmed Cases
-97,875 People who have recovered. For whatever reason, I am ENCOURAGED by the high number of people who are recovering without a known cure.
-14,450 Deaths. Each human death is terrible. Pray for their families. An estimated 600,000 will die from the flu this year.
------------------
220,252 Active Cases in a world with 7,800,000,000 people
=============

USA has moved up to #3 based on the number of confirmed cases because of a big increase in the number of people being tested. USA has 417 deaths, which as a percentage of confirmed cases is much lower than the average. We are blessed with an outstanding healthcare system. Only 5 deaths in Texas as of this morning.

I'm encouraged by:
1. High number of people that are getting well on their own.
2. 95% of the Active Cases are listed as "mild" and they are expected to recover.
3. Since yeasterday, Italy, Spain and France have reported a big increase in the number of people who have recovered.
4. Recoveries in China, South Korea and Japan are very high. Japan has now dropped to #23. These countries have very high population density and they seem to have it under control. China's active cases has dropped from over 42,000 on February 25 to under 7,000 today.

We live in a fallen world. There will be adversity, but it makes us stronger.
