The peak of COVID-19 deaths in Texas may have already passed, a new model from the University of Texas shows. But if it hasn't, it likely will within the next seven days.
As of noon today, Texas reports 543 deaths from COVID-19 (~63% over the age of 70).
Current stats for Texas here: https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/ops ... b9cafc8b83
Even if the number of COVID-19 deaths triples, it won't make the Top Ten causes of death in the state and will end up being only half of 1% of the total deaths. There are approximately 30 million people living in Texas (counting the undocumented) and approximately 1% or 300,000 will die this year.
