In New England, gas for January delivery is soaring, trading this week at more than US$22/MMBtu at the region’s Algonquin hub , which would be the highest price paid in a month since January and February of 2014. That reflects the region, which turns to liquefied natural gas (LNG) when its pipelines become congested, will have to compete with buyers in Europe and Asia already paying a lot more for the super-cooled fuel.
Prices at the Southern California citygate for January 2022 were trading over US$13 this week, which would be a record outside of February 2021.
In the Northeast and California (all states run by Democrats that block pipelines), natural gas prices are expected to exceed $20/MMBtu all winter.

All of the large-cap gassers in our Sweet 16 (AR, CRK, CTRA, EQT and RRC) can move gas to take advantage of these very large premium prices for their gas. CLR should also get much higher realized gas prices than what I show in my models for Q4 and Q1.
