Working gas in storage was 1,389 Bcf as of Friday, March 18, 2022, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decrease of 51 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 366 Bcf less than last year at this time and 293 Bcf below the five-year average of 1,682 Bcf.
At 1,389 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.
Important to note that over the last 13 weeks (a quarter of the year), draws from storage have been a total of 326 Bcf higher than the 5-year average.
The next two weeks should also show much larger draws than the 5-year average.
My guess is that storage will be 350 Bcf below the 5-year average on April 1.
The week ending April 8 shows a 5-year weekly build of 43 Bcf. This year I think we see small draw the first full week of April.
