April 4, 6:36 PM Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A) is considering building a giant plant in Louisiana that would convert natural gas into diesel fuel, WSJ reports. The plant, which could cost more than $10B, would be similar in size to Shell's new gas-to-liquids facility in Qatar, which turns natural gas into enough diesel to fill more than 160,000 cars a day.

FYI: Each 18-wheeler that is converted to run on natural gas will save more oil than 300 of GM's new Volt.

If we can get our government and the wackos that support them out of the way, the energy sector can lead the way to a significant rebound in our economy. Projects like this create lots of high paying jobs and lower our dependence on foreign.
