The Ohio House and Senate have now passed a law that will allow fracking to grow responsibly. I give the Buckeye state a thumbs up. They see how the economies of Texas and North Dakota are booming and they want in. This is very good news for our companies in the Utica Shale.
The new law will require companies to test water within 1,500 feet of proposed wells, report the fluids and chemicals used in drilling, and track the wastewater after it's injected into disposal wells.
The bill has paved the way for Ohio to add 65,000 jobs and $5 billion in shale gas investment in the next two years. The number of wells there is expected to grow 3,025% by 2015 as a result.
