Hurricane Francine's impact on production - Sept 13

Post by dan_s »

The Category 2 storm resulted in the shut-in of approximately 40% of the Gulf of Mexico’s oil output and more than half of its natural gas production as personnel evacuated from 169 production platforms — nearly half of the manned platforms in the region.

Hurricane Francine’s path took it up past New Orleans and into Mississippi, leaving almost half a million customers without power. It may also have impacted production in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Refineries in the area were forced to run at reduced capacity, and several ports that account for 95% of U.S. oil exports had to close.
