Continental Resources (CLR) is primarily a Bakken / Three Forks company. They do have the largest leasehold position in the play and they are the largest oil producer in North Dakota.
However, they have another project in their backyard that will soon be getting a lot more attention. Early in the 4th quarter Continental reported an oil discovery in Oklahoma that will add 1.8 billion barrels to their oil reserves. It's called the South Central Oil Province (or SCOOP for short). CLR already has 2,200 net low risk drilling locations in the play, and has drilled or participated in about 35 wells so far.
I'm eager to see CLR's 4th quarter results and one of our top interns has been assigned the task of updating our profile on the company soon after we get a chance to listen to their Q4 conference call.
