DENVER, May 31, 2013 - Bonanza Creek Energy, Inc. (BCEI) announced today that it will receive the "Hart Energy 2012 Excellence Award for Best Performance of the Year." Michael Starzer, Bonanza Creek`s President and Chief Executive Officer, will accept the award on behalf of the Company at Hart Energy`s Energy Capital Conference in Houston on June 18, 2013. Mr. Starzer will also participate in an industry panel during the conference.

Mr. Starzer commented, "We are pleased to be included in the distinguished list of Excellence Award recipients for our industry and appreciate Hart Energy`s recognition of the Company`s accomplishments during 2012."
