Natural Gas Storage Report - Sept 24

Post by dan_s »

Working gas in storage was 3,440 Bcf as of Friday, September 18, 2015, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 106 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 466 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 148 Bcf above the 5-year average of 3,292 Bcf.

Storage is on-track to reach 4,000 Bcf before winter heating season starts. 5-year average is just over 3,800 Bcf. This is bearish, but the number of homes that use gas for space heating increases each year.

The EIA (U.S. Energy Information Administration) released its Drilling Productivity Report on September 14, 2015. The EIA expects less natural gas production at four key shales by October—compared to August. It expects production to only rise at three key shales during the same period.
